Writing, Photography, Web Design, and Art History

Dear reader,

Welcome to my website! I'm thrilled that you have found me, and hope that the content on the different pages will be helpful or interesting to you. Before introducing myself, I would like to mention that you can view my professional profile on the page Education and work experience. In case you'd like to contact me, feel free to do this through my e-mail or social media accounts, which you can find at the bottom of each page.

With this being said, let me offer you a first introduction of myself, the person behind this website. Born in Roermond, the Netherlands, I grew up in a peaceful and fairly natural environment. At least until I was ten years old, a large part of what is now built still consisted of open fields, flowers, trees and sheep. I enjoyed playing in the streets, going for walks, horse riding, drawing, reading, and more beautiful pure things like these. As a young adult, a love for visual beauty and history subsequently made me decide to swap the south of The Netherlands for Amsterdam, where I studied Art History. However, apart from the history of art, this big yet small city familiarised me with a wide variety of people, ideas, and concepts. It expanded my world and awareness, and further shaped me into the person I am today.

However, after completing my studies, I longed to compliment art history with other skills. My interests are broad, as the 'work experience' page will probably reflect, and I craved creativity and autonomy. In addition - however much I'm fond of this city - I was curious to discover what lay beyond Amsterdam's borders. For this reason, I saved up some money, and followed my South African partner to his home country. Here, I began learning additional skills, and started working remotely as a content writer. A whole world opened up to me, and I felt excited and happy. It was the beginning of what felt like my path of life.

As time went on, I realised that the greatest levels of joy, security and freedom derive from pursuing a true passion for something. After all, passion makes you want to work hard and fully commit. This in contrast to having to work hard for something that you depend on financially, but that does perhaps not fulfil the heart. My passions are photography, writing, art and designing, as well as visibility and accessibility. Because I realised that these activities and interests can be combined, I started shaping a professional profile that utilises them all. I imagined offering clients a beautiful custom made website, (product) photography, and SEO and writing services.

It should be mentioned that pursuing this new path has not been free of challenges. Since starting my first remote content writing job in South Africa, I have slowly been gaining experience. Yet I have had to work for free sometimes, and live very simply until there was a breakthrough. While doing so, I often doubted whether things would fall into place, and if I was even capable. However, when someone eventually wanted to work with me, I felt so happy that this small part of myself had not given up. Now that I have been able to do work that I enjoy from a part of the world that fulfils me deeply - Southern France - I feel more than grateful and content.

If you like, you can always read a bit more into my background and thoughts on the different pages. self portrait of Isabel Dröge, made with the Fujifilm X-T4And perhaps, by visiting this website from time to time, you can follow the steps I'm taking.
